Lagos, Nigeria – March 2025 – Nigerian model Ololade Ayelabola has made history by setting the Guinness World Record for the longest distance walked on a catwalk, covering an astonishing 125.11 kilometers (77.74 miles) over five days at a fashion event in Lagos.
The 26-year-old embarked on this record-breaking journey after being rejected by a Lagos Fashion Week audition due to her height. Instead of backing down, she turned rejection into motivation, creating her own platform to promote inclusivity and diversity in the fashion industry.
“While at the auditions, the judges said, ‘Oh, you walk well, but you are not tall enough,’ and that broke my heart,” Ayelabola shared. “I started thinking about all the models who had been told no because they weren’t tall enough or had a skin condition, even though they were talented. So, I decided to create a stage where people could showcase their talents.”
Her achievement is more than just a record—it’s a powerful statement about breaking barriers and redefining beauty standards in the modeling world. The Guinness World Records acknowledged her feat, celebrating her resilience and impact on the industry.
With six years of modeling experience, Ayelabola has now cemented her place in history, proving that talent and determination will always outshine limitations.
