NPP Urges NDC To Reconsider Stance On Peace Agreement Ahead of Ghana’s Elections 2024

Justin Frimpong Kodua

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of Ghana has urged the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to reconsider its stance on signing the peace agreement for the country’s upcoming December 7, 2024 presidential and Parliamentary elections.

It would be recalled that the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, had reportedly said in an interview that NDC would not sign the peace agreement ahead of the general elections this year.

But in a statement, the NPP says signing the peace agreement was in the best interest of Ghana.

NPP says in its statement that it deems the comments by Mr. Asiedu Nketia “unfortunate” and “incendiary”.

According to the ruling party, the leadership of the National Democratic Congress is creating an environment of fear and suspicion among their supporters, seemingly preparing them to reject the outcome of the 2024 elections.

The statement signed by the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, pointed out the party’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Ghana before, during, and after the elections.
