The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 55-year-old man, Ademola Joshua, in connection with a grievous case of incest and sexual abuse involving a 15-year-old minor.
The command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, made the disclosure on Monday, January 5, 2026, noting that the suspect allegedly impregnated the victim, who is the daughter of his own sister.
Discovery and Reporting
The incident was brought to the attention of the authorities on January 4 by a complainant identified as Adawale from the Ilara-Mokin community. According to the report, the illicit activity was uncovered after family members made inquiries into the sudden pregnancy of the teenage girl.
The victim’s uncle alleged that the suspect had been engaging in these unlawful sexual activities over a period of time before the pregnancy became apparent.
Police Action and GBV Unit Intervention
Following the report, the case was immediately transferred to the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) unit of the state command for a discreet and comprehensive investigation.
“The suspect is currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” Jimoh stated.
The command emphasized its “unwavering commitment” to protecting the rights and dignity of vulnerable groups, particularly women and children, vowing that perpetrators of such crimes will face the full weight of the law.

The spokesperson noted that the arrest and the command’s handling of the case align with the strategic vision of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun.
The IGP’s reform-driven leadership has focused on:
