Ghana: Nation-building needs visionaries like Kantanka – Cheddar

Leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, has called for visionary and transformational leadership to steer Ghana and Africa towards true economic freedom and development.

He made the remarks on Wednesday, September 18, 2025, during a visit to the residence of the late Founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and owner of Kantanka Automobile, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, where he commiserated with the family and signed the book of condolence. Apostle Safo passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

Speaking during the visit, Cheddar stressed the need for leadership that resonates with all sections of society, youth, the sick, the wealthy, and the everyday citizen.

He emphasised that leadership should go beyond politics, underpinned instead by genuine care for people and practical solutions to challenges.

“We need the sort of leadership that would resonate with young people, with sick people, with rich people, with the people of the country, and we need to set the right example—not just for Ghana but for Africa, because Africans are suffering,” he said.

According to him, real governance should reflect financial, economic, and developmental progress, drawn from life experience rather than mere academic study.

He noted that many Ghanaians are struggling to live decent lives and deserve leaders who understand their plight.

Cheddar also reiterated his vision for leadership, clarifying that it goes beyond political ambition.

“I don’t have to run or campaign to add value to this nation. My words alone are strong enough to change you; my message is powerful enough to uplift you; my achievements are proof that we all can do it,” he stated.

Paying tribute to Apostle Safo, he described him as a revolutionary figure whose innovations and legacy should inspire Ghana’s development agenda. He urged Ghanaians to value and support such pioneers who contribute to the nation’s progress.

“One good thing we have been waiting for is for God to give us a chance to rule our own nation, govern our own country, build our own nation, and develop our own country. Such people like Kantanka will be part of the revolution for development,” he added.

Cheddar’s remarks come as tributes continue to pour in for Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, celebrated for his groundbreaking inventions and his role in promoting indigenous innovation and self-reliance in Ghana.
