Mpox disease is not just an African health problem – Says Africa CDC boss (video)

The Director General of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), Dr. Jean Kaseya, has stated that Mpox disease should not been seen as an African health problem.

According to Mr. Kaseya, Mpox is not just an African health problem.

In an interview on CNN, he shared insights into Africa’s response to the ongoing mpox outbreak.

He observed the urgent need for global solidarity.

Africa CDC is leading the charge to protect millions of people across the African continent, he shared.

Africa has secured less than 10% of the estimated $245 million it needs to combat its mpox outbreak.

Mpox is a potentially deadly infection which the World Health Organization (WHO) in mid-August declared to be a global health emergency. That was after a new strain began spreading from Democratic Republic of Congo to neighboring countries.
