The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has approved the promotion of 17 police officers in recognition of their exceptional conduct and operational success in recent anti-crime operations.

In an official update shared by the Ghana Police Service on Wednesday, the promotions were linked to two major breakthroughs:
• Volta Region (Ho): Officers intercepted 10 wrapped slabs of cocaine, estimated to be worth GHC 1,032,650.00, along with multiple sacks of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.
• Ashanti Region (Jacobu): During a routine patrol, officers recovered an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action shotgun, and eight rounds of live AAA ammunition.
At a brief ceremony, the IGP—joined by members of the Police Management Board (POMAB)—commended the officers for demonstrating discipline, courage, and professionalism, noting that their actions reflect the core values of the Service and contribute directly to public safety.
The Police Service said the promotions are part of ongoing efforts to motivate personnel, reinforce operational excellence, and strengthen the national fight against drug trafficking and the proliferation of illegal firearms. The Service reaffirmed its commitment to sustained patrols, intelligence-led operations, and community cooperation to curb crime nationwide.
