Sulemana Braimah, the Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), has urged Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to block the National Service Secretariat (NSS) from “extorting” over Ghc 5.3 million from poor prospective National Service Personnel in Ghana.
He made the appeal after the NSS issued a statement signed by its Executive Director, Osei Assibey Antwi, announcing that the release of the pin codes for final year university students for the 2024/2025 Service year.
The NSS, in the statement, announced should pay between Ghc 40 and Ghc 41 for their enrollment process to be activated, saying that “registration opens today, Wednesday, June 19, 2024, and will close on Friday, June 19, 2024.”
But in his social media post seen by Ghanaija, Mr. Braimah appealed to Dr. Bawumia “to order NSS to immediately reverse this plan to extort over Ghc 5.3 million from poor prospective National Service Personnel.”
He said “NSS enrollment should be made from,” telling Dr. Bawumia “I trust you to make this happen, Sir.”
