Popular American YouTuber Alysha Burney has passed away at the age of 24, just one day before her 25th birthday. According to her brother, Charles Burney, Alysha died after suffering an asthma attack while she was asleep during a vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Following speculation online about the circumstances surrounding her death, Charles took to Instagram to set the record straight. “My sister did not engage in environments that would lead to such situations,” he said. “She was a self-loving and happy individual who cherished her life and was looking forward to the upcoming year’s plans.”
Charles remembered his sister as a “very classy young woman” who was “very goal-oriented, creative, and passionate about giving back.” He noted that Alysha had graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Digital Media Production and was working towards her graduate degree.
Alysha’s lifelong goal was to become a writer and director, and she had plans to open a production studio in Kansas City to help other young creatives. “Her legacy will still live on FOREVER!!” Charles wrote on Instagram.
Friends and fans of Alysha have taken to social media to pay tribute to the beloved YouTuber, who had over 2 million followers on TikTok and 1 million subscribers on YouTube. Jay Lanai, a close friend of Alysha’s, remembered her as the “most genuine, sweet, beautiful and humble human” she had ever met.
Charles has asked for respect and time for the family to grieve, and has warned that they will take legal action against those spreading false information about Alysha’s death.
