Vinicius Junior
Brazilian superstar, Vinicius Junior, proved once again on Tuesday night why he deserves to be the winner of this year’s Ballon d’Or award as he helped Real Madrid to another historic comeback win in the UEFA Champions League.
The reigning Spanish and European Champions were down 2 – 0 to German club, Borussia Dortmund into the break.
But it took a second half magic from Vinicius Junior to turn the match around for Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabèu.
French superstar, Kylian Mbappé had provided an assist for Antonia Rudiger to reduce the goal deficit for Madrid to 2 – 1 in the 60th minute.
Vinicius Junior leveled the score for the home side in the 62nd minute, with his opening goal of the night initially subject to being ruled out as Mbappe was seemingly offside. But after consultation with Video Assisted Referee (VAR) the goal was allowed.
Right back Lucas Vazquez who took over the captaincy from Modric in the second half, then give Madrid the all-important lead in the 83rd minute.
On-fire Vinicius Junior sealed the win for Madrid in the 86th minute as he scored his second of the night. In the 93rd minute, the Brazilian who is tipped to win the Ballon d’Or this coming Monday, netted his hat trick, sending the Santiago Bernabèu into complete ecstasy.
