Ugandan Lawyer Isaac Lubogo Honoured As Africa’s Legal Scholar Of The Year

In a landmark moment for African legal scholarship, Isaac Christopher Lubogo, renowned Ugandan legal academic, author, and CEO of Suigeneris Legal Legacy, has been awarded the Outstanding Legal Scholar of the Year by Scholar Media Group Africa (SMEGAfrica) at the Inaugural SMEGAfrica Excellence Awards held at the Nairobi Serena Hotel.

The award recognizes Lubogo’s exceptional contribution to legal education, thought leadership, and innovation across Africa. Known for his fearless intellect and firebrand writings, Dr. Lubogo has authored over 70 groundbreaking legal and philosophical texts, many of which have redefined jurisprudence in Africa’s postcolonial context.

Though unable to attend in person due to urgent diplomatic engagements in preparation for the Optimist International Convention in St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Lubogo was represented by two esteemed colleagues: Mr. Maganda Evans Tabingwa and Mr. Tusiimukye Daniel, who received the award on his behalf.

In his published acceptance, Lubogo wrote: “This is no trophy. This is a torch. I did not come to be crowned, but consecrated—to the cause of justice, to the duty of truth, and to the dream of a continent that will no longer borrow mirrors to see its greatness.”
