Tottenham Hotspur Sign Xavi Simons

LONDON — Tottenham Hotspur have completed the permanent signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

The club announced the deal on its official website on Friday, August 29, 2025—just three days before the summer transfer window closes. Simons signed a five-year contract running until 2030, with an option for a further two years.

Spurs moved for the 22-year-old Netherlands international to bolster Thomas Frank’s attack after missing out on Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze and losing James Maddison to a serious knee injury.

Simons, who had been linked with Chelsea earlier this summer, expressed his excitement in his first interview with the club:

“I am really happy and can’t wait to get going. I’ve been dreaming of this for a long time. It’s a great club and when I met the Head Coach I knew straight away that this was the right place for me. I will bring flair to the team but also hard work and discipline. I want to do everything I can to win, for the team and also for the fans.”

Leipzig made Simons available this summer despite signing him permanently from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2025 for €50 million.

His arrival follows the signings of Mohammed Kudus and Mathys Tel—who returned after a successful loan spell from Bayern Munich—and the loan capture of Joao Palhinha.
