Tiwa Savage Finally Addresses Viral Seyi Shay Feud and ‘Blocking’ Claims

Nigerian music powerhouse Tiwa Savage has finally opened up about her highly publicized 2021 confrontation with fellow singer Seyi Shay, providing context on the incident and vehemently denying long-standing rumors that she has tried to sabotage the careers of other female artists.

Speaking candidly on the OffAir with Gbemi & Toolz podcast, Tiwa Savage clarified the source of the salon altercation. She explained that the heated exchange stemmed from unresolved issues, specifically a “diss track” that she claimed was aimed directly at her.

“I’m not going to pretend like we’re cool in the salon when you’ve done a diss track about me,” she stated. “That was huge. It was painful.”

Denying Career Sabotage Rumors

Tiwa Savage used the platform to definitively shut down persistent claims that she has worked behind the scenes to “block bags” (sabotage career opportunities) for female colleagues, including Seyi Shay and Victoria Kimani. She issued a direct challenge to her critics:

“If you’ve heard that I blocked someone’s bag, say their name. Let’s talk about it,” Tiwa said firmly. “I’m very pro-women. I love seeing other women win, it doesn’t take anything from me.”

To illustrate her point, the “Somebody’s Son” crooner shared a personal story about how she lost a brand deal following her pregnancy:

“When I got pregnant and had Jamil, I was taken off a Pepsi campaign because I couldn’t bounce back in time, and Seyi was booked instead. So how am I the one stopping other people’s bags?

Tiwa concluded by urging artists to call out promoters or individuals who spread misinformation, emphasizing that transparency is the only way to deal with such rumors. Her remarks have successfully reignited public conversation about the notorious 2021 feud.
