Tanzanian President, Samia Suluhu Hassan, was sworn in on Monday, November 3, 2025 to begin her second term of office amid tight security.
Her swearing-in ceremony follows an election characterized by deadly protests, with opposition party Chadema claiming that at least 700 protesters were killed.

Samia’s swearing-in ceremony took place in the capital, Dodoma at a military parade ground. This year’s ceremony was unlike in previous years where the inauguration of such kind took place in a stadium.

The public was barred from attending the ceremony on Monday. The ceremony was however telecast live.

Samia was declared the winner of the disputed elections on Saturday, November 1, with 98% of the vote.

Her key contenders were either imprisoned or barred from contesting in the elections.
