American R&B star and television personality Tamar Braxton has opened up about her frustrations with being single at 48, admitting that she expected to be married by this stage of her life.
In a candid interview with WBLS, the Love and War singer shared her thoughts on the current dating pool and how her own personality might be affecting her search for “the one.”
‘Wife Material’ and High Standards
Braxton was unapologetic about her desire for a committed union, describing herself as ready for marriage but struggling to find men who meet her criteria.
“I am a wife material. I am not a streetwalker. I am upset that I am still single. What’s going on?” she questioned during the broadcast.
The singer attributed her status to a shortage of what she terms “premium” men, noting that her recent encounters have not lived up to her expectations.
“I think the only reason I am still single is because there is not the right guys. I accept only premium guys but I have been meeting only regulars lately. All I want is a good man. That’s my type,” she expressed.
Softening the ‘Alpha Female’ Personality
Reflecting on why potential suitors might stay away, Braxton admitted that her strong, “alpha female” energy could be perceived as intimidating. She suggested that many men may lack the confidence to approach her because they fear they cannot meet her standards or handle her presence.
In a surprising turn, the Grammy-nominated artist revealed that she is actively working on changing her demeanor to be more approachable.
- The Goal: To embrace a “softer” side of herself.
- The Process: She described this as a daily effort to move away from the commanding personality that has defined much of her public career.
- The Quote: “But right now, I am trying to ditch being an alpha female and be more soft. I am working on it everyday,” she added.
Career and Personal Journey
Tamar Braxton has had a highly publicized romantic history, including her nearly decade-long marriage to music executive Vincent Herbert, which ended in 2017. Since then, her dating life has been a frequent topic of discussion on reality television and social media.
As she approaches her late 40s, Braxton’s transparency about her loneliness and her willingness to adapt her personality highlights the personal vulnerabilities behind her superstar persona. Fans have responded with a mix of support and advice, sparking a wider conversation about dating standards and the “soft life” movement among high-achieving women.
