Shatta Wale
Ghanaian music star, Shatta Wale, has been released from detention amid ongoing investigation over his possession of a Lamborghini Urus which has the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. State Department have linked to fraud in the US.
According to Shatta Wale’s lawyer, Cephas Boyuo, the initial bail amount of Ghc 10 million was reduced to Ghc 5 million, requiring two sureties.
The lawyer says “As part of the bail conditions, he is to report to EOCO three times a week.”
As Africa Publicity earlier reported, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) of Ghana stated that Shatta Wale had failed to legally prove his ownership of the Lamborghini Urus which was recently seized from him.
EOCO says Shatta Wale had also failed to establish the true identify of the person he claimed to have bought the luxury car from.
The Crime Office said these in a statement issued on Thursday, August 21, 2025, a day after Shatta Wale, real name Charles Nii Armah Mensah, was detained by EOCO over the car which FBI and the US Department of State have linked to fraud in the US.
According to EOCO, Shatta Wale said he bought the Lamborghini from “The Street”.
In the statement, EOCO says Shatta Wale told them that the seller might be someone called “ZAK”.
“ZAK”, according to Shatta Wale, contacted him through WhatsApp, but EOCO said he admitted that he neither knows the individual’s true identity nor has the WhatsApp contact used in the transaction.
According to EOCO, Shatta Wale failed to present any formal documentation – such as a sales receipt or transfer documents – proving his ownership of the Lamborghini.
EOCO added in the statement that the only document in Shatta Wale’s possession is a customs declaration form, which bears the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah, a Ghanaian who is currently serving a jail sentence.
