Kenyan President, William Ruto, has reaffirmed Kenya’s longstanding partnership with the Ismaili ImamatIsmaili Imamat, highlighting its transformative role in healthcare, education, environmental conservation, and cultural preservation.

In a post on his official Facebook page after hosting His Highness Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini Aga Khan V at State House, Nairobi, President Ruto said the collaboration has yielded significant impact, including health facilities serving more than 900,000 patients annually, support for nearly 1,000 public schools, and the planting of 1.5 million trees across Kenya in the past three years.

The President noted that the government looks forward to broadening cooperation into new priority areas, particularly the Affordable Housing Programme, which he said will “provide safe homes and create thousands of jobs.” He also underscored the Nairobi River Regeneration project under the Climate WorX initiative, which currently engages 40,000 Kenyans in restoring ecosystems and renewing the capital city.

During the meeting, President Ruto congratulated Prince Rahim on assuming leadership of the Shia Ismaili Imamat and on receiving Kenya’s highest civilian honour, the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (C.G.H.).

He also extended congratulations to Princess Zahra Aga Khan, who was awarded the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (E.G.H.) in recognition of her lifelong dedication to health, education, and social development.

President Ruto said the honours reflected Kenya’s appreciation of the Aga Khan family’s enduring commitment to the country’s progress and the well-being of its people.
