Nigerian singer Reekado Banks has shared that his departure from Mavin Records was a premature decision, a realization he came to after starting his own label, Banks Music. In an interview with Teddy A, Banks clarified that his exit was not due to a disagreement but a personal choice to pursue his own path.
He explained that his contract had ended two years before his departure, and he chose not to renew it. Banks stated, “I signed a three-year contract and I allowed it to ride for another two years… I thought I wanted to do this now. I thought I could do it now. I just embarked on the journey… As soon as I jumped into the sea, I realised how premature it was.”
Banks rose to fame under Mavin Records, winning awards at The Headies, before ultimately deciding to venture out on his own.
