Opposition political party, the Progressive Alliance of Ghana (PAG) has issued a strong condemnation of the violent attacks reported during the Ablekuma North constituency election rerun held on Friday, July 11, 2025.
In a statement signed by the party’s 2024 flagbearer, Dr. John Kpikpi, the PAG expressed deep concern over the assault of journalists and political figures at some of the 19 polling stations involved in the rerun. The party described the attacks as a direct threat to Ghana’s democratic values and press freedom.
“We are deeply disturbed by reports that some journalists and political actors were physically attacked while carrying out their legitimate duties,” the statement read.
PAG called on the Ghana Police Service and the Electoral Commission to conduct swift investigations and ensure that those responsible face the law. The party also urged all political parties to promote peace and uphold the integrity of Ghana’s electoral process.
