Dozens of students hospitalized in Ghana over suspected food poisoning

More than 30 students in Ghana’s Ajumako Afransi Technical and Vocational Institute have been hospitalized following a suspected case of food poisoning.

Reports suggest that the students complained about stomach upset after a local Ghanaian dish, Waakye or rice and beans.

They are reported to have consumed the contaminated meal for lunch at their school located in the Central Region of Ghana on Tuesday, June 11, 2024

According to reports, a number of the students after eating the waakye started vomiting, and the attention of the school authorities was drawn to their situation. After the school authorities were informed, some teachers sent the students to the Ajumako Baah and Salvation Army Polyclinic for treatment.
