A woman from Nigeria’s Kano State, Hafsatu Yusuf, has died just days after she gave birth to five babies (quintuplets) at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Nigeria.
Nabilusi Abubakar, Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health, reportedly confirmed her death to local media outlet, Punch.
He says the woman died around 2am on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the hospital.
He noted that the woman experienced persistent bleeding after delivering the five babies – three boys and two girls – and efforts by medical personnel to stabilise her were unsuccessful.
According to him, “She had been bleeding since after delivery, and all efforts by doctors to control the situation were unsuccessful.”
He revealed that she has been buried in accordance with Islamic rites at her residence in Hotoro.
He stated that “We are appealing to the public to support the babies with milk and other essential items”, confirming that the newborns are in stable condition and are currently receiving medical attention at the hospital.
