Senator Ned Nwoko has denied allegations that he has been physically abusing his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, amid reports of tension in their marriage.
In a statement shared via his Instagram page on Sunday, the lawmaker claimed that Regina has been struggling with drug and alcohol abuse and has repeatedly refused to undergo rehabilitation, either in Nigeria or in Jordan, where she would not have access to such substances.
Nwoko emphasized that he has other wives and none have ever accused him of being v!olent, insisting that Regina’s alleged behavior under the influence of drugs has caused turmoil in their home.
According to him, within the past 48 hours, Regina allegedly destroyed properties, assaulted domestic staff, and relocated to a place where she could freely access drugs. He added that he fears for her safety if she refuses treatment.
The senator also accused Regina’s brother, Sammy, and a woman identified as Ann of supplying her with hard drugs.
He said the viral video circulating online was recorded during a chaotic episode that occurred after Regina allegedly refused to take their sick child to the hospital and allegedly attacked a nurse who exposed her drug use.
“Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation program, or I fear for her life and safety,” Nwoko wrote.
“Now she has moved to a place where she will have unrestricted access to drugs. I have other wives, and none will ever accuse me of violence. Regina is the violent one here, slapping and hitting three staff members in the past 48 hours and destroying property, including cars and windows, for no just cause.”
He added that he had given Regina an option to undergo rehabilitation either in Asokoro or in Jordan, but she declined. Nwoko also shared a video purportedly showing the damage allegedly caused by Regina during the incident.
