Nigeria: Police Arrest Four Over Brutal Killing of Man Lured by Girlfriend in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested a young woman and three others for the brutal murder of her boyfriend in Gidan Kacha village, Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Police spokesperson DSP Ahmad Rufai, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, October 25, 2025, said the victim, Ali Salisu of Darnawa village, was allegedly lured by his girlfriend, Rukayya Amadu, who conspired with another man, Hamisu Ibrahim, to rob and kill him.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on October 4, 2025, when Rukayya invited the unsuspecting victim to a secluded area in the Dabagi bush under the pretense of a private meeting.

“Unknown to him, Rukayya had arranged with Hamisu to set a deadly trap. When the victim arrived, Hamisu ambushed him, tied a rope around his neck, and strangled him to death before fleeing with his red Kasea motorcycle,” DSP Rufai stated.

Further investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects, identified as Lawali Abdullahi and Ibrahim Abdullahi, who allegedly received and attempted to sell the stolen motorcycle in Sokoto.

“All four suspects are now in custody and will soon be charged in court for criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, armed robbery, and receiving stolen property,” the police spokesperson added.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Musa, commended the officers involved in the investigation for their swift action, describing the incident as “a painful reminder of how deceit and jealousy can destroy lives.”

“This case is both tragic and instructive. It shows how misplaced trust can end in disaster. We urge the public to exercise caution in personal relationships and to avoid secluded areas, especially at night,” CP Musa said.

He further cautioned traders and buyers against purchasing items such as motorcycles or vehicles without verifying ownership. “Receiving stolen property is a serious offence under the law. Ignorance will not shield anyone from prosecution,” he warned.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring peace and safety across the state and urged residents to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

“Our mission is to protect lives and property. With the continued cooperation of the public, Sokoto will remain safe and peaceful for all,” the Commissioner assured.
