The Anambra State Police Command has responded to a disturbing video circulating on social media that appears to show a group of young boys allegedly conducting a cult initiation involving a minor.
Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga stated that a preliminary review of the footage indicates the incident may have occurred in a community within Anambra State. He described the acts depicted as “criminal and deeply offensive to public morals, safety, and the protection of minors, who remain among the most vulnerable members of society.”

According to Ikenga, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered an immediate investigation into the matter. Specialized units — including the Anti-Cultism Squad, Juvenile Welfare Unit, and the State Intelligence Department — have been directed to:
• Verify the authenticity and origin of the video,
• Identify the victim to ensure his safety and wellbeing, and
• Identify and apprehend all individuals involved or complicit in the act.

The Commissioner strongly condemned any form of child abuse, indoctrination, harassment, psychological grooming, or forced initiation, emphasizing that such actions will not be tolerated in the state.
He urged members of the public with credible information to assist the ongoing investigation by contacting the command through the following numbers: 112, 07039194332, or the Public Relations Officer on 08039334002.
Ikenga assured that the identities of informants will be protected and that all reports will be handled with the utmost confidentiality.
