Nicola Coughlan Earns First Solo SAG Nomination on Her Birthday for ‘Bridgerton’ Role

Nicola Coughlan, renowned for her portrayal of Penelope Featherington in Netflix’s hit series Bridgerton, celebrated a career milestone on her 38th birthday. On January 8, 2025, she received her first solo Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award nomination, a moment she described as “a lovely early birthday present.”

 

Sharing her excitement on Instagram, Coughlan expressed gratitude: “I’m absolutely in shock and so honoured… so proud of the whole @bridgertonnetflix family.”

 

This marks Coughlan’s first individual recognition by the SAG Awards, though the Bridgerton ensemble has been nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series twice, including this year.

 

In the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series category, Coughlan stands alongside industry icons Kathy Bates (Matlock), Allison Janney and Keri Russell (both from The Diplomat), and Anna Sawai (Shōgun).

Bridgerton Season 3, released in two parts in May and June 2024, delved deeper into Penelope Featherington’s personal and romantic evolution.
