NEWSFull List: Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Tems, Tyla, Rema, Asake, Diamond Platnumz, nominated for the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards

MTV has announced the nominations for the 2024 MTV EMAs, with African stars taking center stage, showcasing their incredible achievements over the past year. Afrobeats sensations Ayra Starr and Tyla lead the pack among African acts, each securing four nominations. Ayra Starr is nominated for “Best New”, “Best Afrobeats”, “Best African Act”, and her captivating performances on MTV Push earned her a nod for “Best Push”. South African star Tyla, earning her first-ever MTV EMA nominations, is recognized in the categories of “Best New”, “Best Afrobeats”, “Best R&B”, and “Best African Act”.

Other African heavyweights such as Burna Boy, Rema, Asake, and Tems have also been nominated in the “Best Afrobeats” category. Additionally, Asake, Diamond Platnumz, DBN Gogo, TitoM & Yuppe have secured nominations in the “Best African Act” regional category.

Taylor Swift leads the full pack with seven nods, including “Best Artist,” “Best Video”, “Best Pop” and “Biggest Fans”. Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Charli xcx and Sabrina Carpenter all scored five nominations each, appearing in categories such as “Best Song”, “Best Video” and “Best Artist”. Closely following with four nominations each are Ayra Starr, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, LISA, plus first-time nominees Chappell Roan and Tyla.

 

Nineteen nominees have the chance to score their first ever MTV EMA at this year’s show, including: Kehlani and Tinashe in the “Best R&B” category, Disclosure and Fred Again.. for “Best Electronic”, Fontaines D.C. for “Best Alternative”, The Last Dinner Party for “Best New” and BTS’ Jimin for “Best K-Pop”, which marks his first nomination as a solo artist.

 

Elsewhere, MTV Push’s finest battle it out in the “Best Push” category, which features Flyana Boss, Laufey, Shaboozey, The Warning, Victoria Monét, as well as Ayra Starr, LE SSERAFIM and Teddy Swims, who are also up for “Best New”.

 

Superstars from around the world also dominate the “Best Collaboration” category, which sees nods for Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars; Future, Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamar; LISA and Rosalía; Peso Pluma and Anitta; Charli xcx and Billie Eilish, plus Taylor Swift and Post Malone.

Manchester’s Co-op Live is the official venue for the 2024 MTV EMAs. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, this marks the first time the prestigious event will be held in the city, and it also marks its highly anticipated return to the UK. The event will be broadcast live on MTV via DStv Channel 322 and GOtv Channel 72 on Sunday, 10th November at 20:00 WAT.

From today, fans can vote for their favorites across categories including “Best Song,” “Best Artist,” “Best Collaboration” atwww.mtvema.com until 00:00 CET on November 6.

 

Fans from 23 regions around the world can also vote for their favorite artists in the “Best Regional Act” categories.  The winner of the “Best Video” category will be chosen by MTV.

 

The “Biggest Fans” winners will be voted for at a later date on social via @MTVEMA.
