Lil Novi Claims Lil Wayne Wrote Most of Drake’s Lyrics

In a recent livestream, Lil Wayne’s son, Lil Novi, made a bold claim that his father wrote “most” of Drake’s lyrics, reigniting debates about authorship in hip hop. Novi stated, “My dad wrote most of Drake’s sh*t. If it wasn’t for my pops, there wouldn’t be no Drake,” suggesting Wayne’s influence extended to Drake’s seminal albums like Take Care and Views. The remarks echo the 2015 ghostwriting controversy sparked by Meek Mill, who accused Drake of using ghostwriter Quentin Miller for his mixtape If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.

Novi’s claims have divided fans online. Some support his assertions, with one user noting, “I kinda believe this because you can tell when you listen to his music that his writers changed at some point.” Others question his credibility due to his youth, as he was born after Drake’s 2009 mixtape So Far Gone. A skeptic commented, “I don’t believe a 15-year-old who is now saying that his dad wrote most of Drake’s stuff.” Neither Drake nor Lil Wayne has responded to the claims, leaving fans awaiting clarification.

In the same livestream, 15-year-old Novi discussed his emerging music career and the pressure of his father’s legacy, saying, “Low key, but no, not for real. Like I feel like I’ll eventually be able to handle that.” He shared his choice to delay his debut, aiming for a unique underground sound.

The controversy underscores ongoing tensions in hip hop about authenticity and ghostwriting. Drake has previously dismissed such allegations, emphasizing collaboration as part of his creative process rather than a replacement for his work.
