Lewis Hamilton Skips F1 Test as Beloved Dog Roscoe is Placed in a Coma

Formula 1 superstar Lewis Hamilton has withdrawn from the crucial Pirelli tyre test at Mugello, Italy, to rush to the side of his beloved English bulldog, Roscoe, who is in a medically induced coma after a sudden health crisis.

Hamilton was due to join Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc for the tyre testing session on Friday. However, a Ferrari spokesperson confirmed that the team’s reserve driver, Zhou Guanyu, stepped in to replace Hamilton, allowing the seven-time world champion to be with his pet.

Critical Health Scare

The F1 driver provided a candid and distressing update on Roscoe’s condition via an emotional post on Instagram. Hamilton explained that Roscoe caught pneumonia again and was struggling to breathe.

“He was admitted into hospital and sedated to calm him while they did checks on him and during the process his heart stopped,” Hamilton wrote. “They managed to get a heartbeat back and now he’s in a coma. We don’t know whether he will wake from this.”

Hamilton expressed his commitment to his dog, stating he is “by his side” as they plan to attempt to wake Roscoe up on Saturday. He thanked fans for their support and prayers during the difficult time.

Roscoe’s Paddock Presence

Roscoe has been a constant fixture in Hamilton’s life since his first season with Mercedes in and is a well-known personality in the Formula 1 paddock, often accompanying his owner to races.

The English bulldog has cultivated his own dedicated global fanbase, boasting an impressive million followers on his dedicated Instagram account. He was most recently seen with Hamilton at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in July.
