The late former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, will be buried on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
President Buhari passed away around 4:30pm in London on Sunday, July 13, 2025 following a protracted illness.
His mortal remains are due to arrive in Katsina State by midday on Tuesday, July 15, ahead of his burial scheduled for 2:00 p.m. the same day in Daura.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda announced the funeral arrangements during a media briefing today in Katsina.
The Governor’s media briefing followed discussions with Buhari’s family and close associates in London.
Umaru Radda, who extended his condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, says Mr. Buhari’s the burial will follow Islamic rites.
“We also condole His Excellency, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the passing of his predecessor. May Allah give us the strength to bear this great loss.”
Governor Radda added that the burial arrangements are being coordinated by the state government, federal authorities, and the Buhari family to ensure a dignified and solemn farewell to the late leader.
