Juliette Binoche to Lead Star-Studded Jury at 78th Cannes Film Festival

The world’s most prestigious celebration of cinema is set for another historic moment as the 78th Festival de Cannes unveils its Jury, led by legendary French actress Juliette Binoche. With a career spanning four decades of fearless artistry, Binoche will preside over a panel tasked with awarding the next Palme d’Or in a year poised for cinematic brilliance.

Joining her is a dazzling constellation of global talents: Oscar-winning actress and filmmaker Halle Berry (USA); director Payal Kapadia (India), whose lyrical storytelling has captured hearts worldwide; acclaimed Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher; Moroccan-French writer Leïla Slimani; Congolese documentarist Dieudo Hamadi; minimalist master Hong Sangsoo (South Korea); visionary Mexican director Carlos Reygadas; and Jeremy Strong (USA), a celebrated actor of profound intensity.

This diverse assembly will judge 21 films in Competition, continuing the tradition of excellence following last year’s Jury led by Greta Gerwig, which crowned Sean Baker’s Anora.

Binoche’s appointment feels destined. Since her breakout at Cannes with Rendez-vous (1985), she has built a career that defies boundaries, earning accolades including an Oscar, BAFTA, César, and Cannes Best Actress Award. Her lifelong devotion to exploration across cinema, theater, dance, and music makes her the perfect embodiment of Cannes’ spirit.

The 2025 Jury reflects a kaleidoscope of voices and visions — from Halle Berry’s trailblazing Hollywood journey to Leïla Slimani’s literary fight for human rights, and from Hong Sangsoo’s delicate cinematic observations to Dieudo Hamadi’s fearless chronicles of Congo’s realities.

All eyes will turn to the glittering Closing Ceremony on Saturday, May 24, broadcast live by France Télévisions and Brut. internationally, where the new Palme d’Or winner will be revealed. But long before the final announcement, the 78th Festival de Cannes promises to be a luminous celebration of the passion, politics, poetry, and pure artistry that define the magic of cinema.

As Juliette Binoche and her distinguished Jury prepare to write the next chapter of Cannes history, the world is invited to witness a festival like no other — where every frame could spark a legacy.
