A ceasefire proposal by American President, Donald Trump, has been accepted by Iran and Israel.

President Trump said the plan is “now in effect.” The US President warned Iran and Israel to continue to respect the plan, saying “please do not violate it!”

Hours after President Trump announced the plan, the government of Israel confirmed it agrees to the cease.

But the Israeli warned that it will “respond forcefully to any violation” by Iran.

Iran had earlier stated that it would only stop its missile attacks if Israel ceased fire.

Several people have died over the last few days in Iran and Israel during the conflict President Trump has named a “12-Day War”.

After the announcement of the ceasefire, Israel said at least four persons were killed in Iran’s overnight attacks on Israel, with the state media in the Iranian capital of Tehran reporting that “a last round of missiles” was fired before the ceasefire came into effect. Israel’s Magen David Adom rescue services noted that at least eight more people were injured in the early morning barrage.

Israel also launched a barrage of missiles across Iran before the ceasefire took effect.

The ceasefire comes after Iran launched retaliatory missiles attack at the US Air base, Al Udeid in Doha, Qatar. No deaths or injuries were reported in the Iranian attack as Qatar’s Defense Forces said they intercepted the Iranian missiles.

What to know:

Trump describes conflict as ’12 Day War’:

President Trump named the conflict between Israel and Iran as a “12 Day War.” That recalls the 1967 Mideast war, known by some as the “Six Day War,” in which Israel fought a group of Arab countries including Egypt, Jordan and Syria.

How the war started:

Israel launched a surprise barrage of attacks on sites in Iran on June 13, 2025 which Israeli officials noted was necessary to head off what they claimed was an imminent threat that Iran would build nuclear bombs. Iran has retaliated with a series of missile and drone strikes in Israel, while Israel has continued to strike sites in Iran.
