Spanish football manager, Pep Guardiola, says he has informed Manchester City’s Board that he does want to have a big squad at the Premier League club in the 2025/2026 season.

According to him, “I told the board that I do not want a big squad next season… or I will leave.”

He explained further that “I said to the club: I don’t want that, I don’t want to put five, six players in the tribune. I don’t want that. I will quit. If they don’t make a short squad, I will not stay.”

“It’s impossible for my soul to put players in the tribune and cannot play. As a manager, I cannot be training 24 players and when I select there has to be four, five, six staying at home because they can’t play.”

According to him, “This isn’t going to happen. I said to the club I don’t want that…I don’t want to have 24, 25 players when everyone is fit. If I have injuries, unlucky! We’ll have some players from the Academy and we will do it.”
