Hilda Baci Secures Third Guinness World Record After Rice Feat Earns Dual Recognition

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially become a three-time Guinness World Record holder, following confirmation that her 2025 culinary achievement earned her two records simultaneously, expanding her place in global record history.

The chef made the announcement on Tuesday via Instagram, where she updated her profile to read “Chef ×3 Guinness World Record Holder”. According to Baci, what was initially certified as a single record has now been formally recognised as two distinct Guinness World Records.

Dual Records from One Attempt

In September 2025, Baci broke the Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, after preparing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of the iconic dish during a large-scale cookout in Lagos.

However, a recent review by Guinness World Records revealed that the same attempt also met the criteria for the largest serving of rice overall, regardless of style or origin.

This was confirmed in an official email from Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering at Guinness World Records’ Records Creative Team.

“When comparing the record guidelines, it became clear that your successful attempt at the ‘Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice’ also qualifies as the ‘Largest serving of rice,’” the message stated.

Surprise Recognition

Reacting to the news, Baci described the moment as unexpected and emotional.

“I woke up a three-time Guinness World Records holder and I’m still trying to process it,” she wrote. “Five months after the original announcement, I discovered there was more.”

She explained that she had believed the jollof rice record was a standalone achievement until receiving the confirmation email.

“What I thought was one record turned out to be two—on the same day. That’s how it became three Guinness World Records in total,” she said.

A Growing Record Legacy

Baci’s latest recognition builds on her earlier Guinness World Records journey. In May 2023, she made history by completing a 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon, becoming the first Nigerian chef to hold multiple Guinness World Records.

With the newly confirmed rice records, she now holds three titles, further cementing her status as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished culinary figures.

Team Effort and Gratitude

The chef credited her success to strong collaboration, singling out @oreoluwa_atinmo and other team members for their pivotal roles in executing the ambitious project.

“From idea to execution, we worked side by side. This record would not have been possible without that alignment and support,” she said.

She also expressed gratitude to Guinness World Records, her supporters, and her faith, describing the achievement as an unexpected but meaningful start to 2026.

Global Spotlight on Nigerian Cuisine

Beyond personal accolades, Baci’s achievement continues to draw international attention to Nigerian cuisine, particularly jollof rice, reinforcing its cultural significance and global appeal.

The latest milestone further positions Hilda Baci as a leading ambassador for African culinary excellence on the world stage.
