Gimba reflects on featuring Olamide in new EP ‘Amince Da Tsari’

For Gimba, music wasn’t always the plan, but fate led him on an extraordinary journey. Now, just a year into his career, he’s had the chance to work with Afrobeats icons like Wizkid, Olamide, Wande Coal, Sarz, and DJ Tunez, an experience he still finds hard to believe.

“As a fresh face in the industry who debuted with legends, I felt intense pressure to keep up,” Gimba admits. “But I’m grateful to God for guiding me through this journey. I can’t deny it. It’s been an incredible blessing.”

His latest work, an EP titled Amince Da Tsari — which translates to “Trust the Process” from Hausa — has been turning heads and making them bop. The project’s lead track, ‘Tingrado’ featuring Olamide, has also drawn significant attention on social media.

Renowned for his unique fusion of jazz and afrobeats, Gimba developed his distinct sound during his time at the esteemed Sarz Academy in 2022. When asked about his motivation, the 20-year-old explains, “In a way, I see my music as a bridge — I use it to pass on love, joy, and hope. But music is also my own voice, the truest way I can express my thoughts and feelings. It’s all I have to speak my truth.”

“Amince Da Tsari,” he says, opens his life to listeners, beginning with ‘Nightmares’, a track that dives into the pressures he’s faced. Each track on the EP reveals a piece of his story.
