Security consultant Richard Kumadoe has publicly guaranteed the nation’s security against threats posed by illegal mining syndicates, asserting that no such group can overpower Ghana’s combined specialized security units.
Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, November 8, 2025, Kumadoe emphatically stated that the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and other armed agencies possess a “decisive advantage” over all galamsey operators.
NAIMOS Role in Disrupting Networks
Kumadoe stressed that the military and specialized police units maintain unmatched superiority in training and resources. He categorically declared that “no militia group operating in any forest in Ghana can stand against the specialised units of the Ghana Police Service, let alone the Ghana Army.”

He singled out the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) for high praise, recognizing its critical role in dismantling illegal mining networks, disrupting supply chains, and forcefully curtailing operations nationwide. Kumadoe commended the agency for its speed, determination, and strategic efforts to enforce the law and remove the vested interests that continue to fuel the galamsey trade.
Kumadoe warned that false narratives are a significant obstacle, making it difficult for citizens to fully comprehend the gravity of the environmental crisis and hindering law enforcement’s ability to effectively carry out its mandate. He noted that NAIMOS is performing a “herculean job” amidst this atmosphere of public skepticism and false reporting.
Experts universally agree that illegal mining continues to pose an existential threat to Ghana’s forests, water bodies, and essential agricultural lands, making the coordinated and sustained action by the military, police, and regulatory agencies absolutely essential.
