Ghanaian Policeman who jumped bail in 2019 after allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl arrested at Airport upon his return from Dubai

A former Ghanaian Policeman, General Corporal Emmanuel Nyame, who jumped bail five years ago while on trial for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl, has been arrested at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) upon his return from Dubai.

General Corporal Nyame was attached to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD).

He was reportedly dating the victim’s auntie at the time at Nsukwao, a suburb of New Juaben South Municipality.

He was initially arrested in 2019 and after his arrest, he was granted bail by the Koforidua Circuit Court “B” in the Eastern Region of Ghana, with his fianee’s two relatives standing surety for a bail bond of Ghc 40,000.

However, the former police officer jumped bail and went into hiding, allegedly deactivating his mobile phone numbers.

Facts presented by the prosecution, led by Regional State Attorney, Mrs. Emily Addo-Kyereh, revealed that on April 11, 2019, while his fiancee’ was at a funeral, Nyame took the victim under the pretext of running an errand.

He allegedly drove the victim to a drinking spot called Timberland in Koforidua, where he asked her to help a lady cook.

From there, Nyame continued with the victim to a funeral ground and later to his room at Nsukwao Police Barracks near Ghateco where he allegedly defiled her.
