Ghanaian soldiers on peacekeeping mission with the United Nations (UN) in Lebanon have been attacked with missiles.

Ghana Armed Forces said in a statement that missiles struck the Ghanaian headquarters of its United Nations peacekeeping battalion in southern Lebanon.

According to the Armed Forces, two Ghanaian soldiers were critically injured in the attacks that hit around 5:45 p.m. local time (14:45 GMT).

The statement said the officers’ mess hall at the facility was also burned down “completely” in the attacks.

Ghana’s government has formally protested the incident at the UN headquarters in New York.

The US-Israel war with Iran provoked Iran-backed militia group, Hezbollah who fired missiles into Israel. Israel has responded by firing into Beirut, the Lebanese capital.
