Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana has announced that its embassy in Tehran, the capital of Iran, will soon resume operations.
According to the Ministry in a statement dated Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the Ghanaian Embassy in Iran will resume operations on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
It would be recalled that the Embassy was shut down on June 16, 2025 during Israel’s 12-day war against Iran. The closure of the Embassy, according to the Ministry at the time, was a precautionary measure to safeguard staff during the Israel-Iran war.
In the statement, the Ministry said the decision to reopen the Embassy followed improvements in security situation in Iran.
It says “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the public that with improvement in the security situation in Iran, a decision has been taken for the Embassy to resume its operations on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.”
