Ghana’s Western North Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect believed to be connected to a violent robbery attack on a mining site at Sefwi Antobia in the Western North Region of the country.

The suspect, identified as Victor Biney, alias Abeiku, who is already on the police wanted list in connection with multiple robbery cases was arrested on Monday, 17th November 2025. His arrest followed a complaint that seven armed, masked men had attacked miners at a site near Sefwi Antobia, assaulted them with cutlasses, and stolen quantities of gold concentrate and several mobile phones.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the robbers, armed with pump-action and single-barrel guns, stormed the site, subjected the miners to severe beatings, and made away with the gold concentrate and other valuables. Three of the attackers were reported to be wearing distinctive smocks, with one smock decorated with talismans, while another wore a military shirt.

At the station, the suspect admitted ownership of several of the recovered items. The victims also identified some of the flashlights, the mercury, the gold concentrate and three of the smocks as those taken during the robbery. They further confirmed that the military shirt and some of the smocks matched what the attackers wore.
