The Ghana Police Service has launched an intensive manhunt for suspected armed robbers who allegedly shot dead two police officers in the Upper East Region. The incident occurred on April 13, 2025, at Poyamirea, a community on the outskirts of Binduri.
According to a statement issued by the Police’s Director of Public Affairs, Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased officers were in plain clothes and traveling on a private motorbike from Bongo to Binduri when they were ambushed by assailants. The attackers shot the officers and made away with their motorbike.
Investigation and Next Steps
The names of the deceased officers have not been disclosed as efforts are underway to properly notify their families in line with local customs and traditions. The Police Administration has assured the public that every effort is being made to track down and bring the perpetrators to justice. “Our hearts and prayers are with you,” Ansah-Akrofi conveyed to the bereaved families, the Commander, and all officers in the Upper East Region.
The public is urged to remain calm and assist with any information that could aid the ongoing investigation. The Ghana Police Service remains committed to ensuring the offenders are apprehended.
