GHANA: Police Arrest Seven Suspects in Major Narcotics Swoop Across Cape Coast

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested seven suspects during an intelligence-led operation aimed at dismantling narcotic drug peddling networks within the Cape Coast Metropolis.

The operation, which took place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, targeted known drug bases and hotspots suspected to be hubs for the sale and use of prohibited substances.

Suspects and Locations

The suspects currently in police custody assisting with investigations have been identified as:

  • Robert Kobbina
  • Abu Issifu
  • Janet Mensah
  • Emmanuel Quarshie
  • Osei Boateng
  • Animful Emmanuel
  • Charity Nkrumah

The crackdown began at a suspected narcotics base in Effutu, where officers apprehended Robert Kobbina and Abu Issifu. The operation was subsequently extended to Poly Amisano and Nkanfoa, areas identified by law enforcement as active zones for drug peddling.

Items Seized

A search conducted on Kobbina and at a drinking spot operated by Janet Mensah led to the recovery of several illicit items, including:

  • Assorted Narcotics: Tablets and sachets of Timaking, Tdrona, and Royal Fart.
  • Dried Leaves: Suspected to be Indian hemp (cannabis).
  • Tobacco Products: Large quantities of cigarettes, tobacco, and lighters.
  • Illegal Gaming Machines: A total of seven jackpot machines were confiscated from drinking spots in Poly Amisano and Nkanfoa.

Legal Action

The Central Regional Police Command stated that the swoop is part of a broader, ongoing effort to clamp down on narcotic-related crimes and illegal activities within the metropolis.

Authorities confirmed that all seven suspects will be processed for court once preliminary investigations are completed. Residents are encouraged to continue providing credible information to support the police in maintaining public safety and order.
