Police have arrested three individuals in connection with a gold robbery attack that occurred on July 15, 2025, near Jukwa, close to Afransie in Ghana’s Western Region.
The incident involved a Toyota Hilux pickup (registration number GT 7426-23), which was transporting gold concentrate from a mining site to Wassa Akropong.
The vehicle was ambushed near Jukwa, and the robbers made away with the gold concentrate. Onboard at the time were the driver, Kofi Gyamfi, a security guard named Bashiru, and one other person.
A swift response by the Police led to the immediate arrest of Foster Peprah, a small-scale miner, at the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that he carried out the robbery with an accomplice identified as Isaac, who is currently on the run.
During interrogation, Foster implicated the driver, Kofi Gyamfi, as the one who invited him to participate in the robbery. Kofi was subsequently arrested and, in turn, identified Bashiru, the security guard, as the mastermind behind the plot. Bashiru was later apprehended at his hideout in Wassa Gyedua.
The three suspects are currently in Police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts continue to locate and arrest the fugitive, Isaac.
