Ghana’s Northern Regional Police Command have arrested three suspected kidnappers following a Ghc 100,000 ransom demand they made on a victim’s family.
In a statement dated Monday, December 8, 2025, the Ghana Police Service said the three suspects were arrested in Bokpaba, a village along the Bimbilla – Yendi stretch of the Eastern Corridor.
According to the statement, “The suspects, Haruna Seidu, Amidu Bandi, and Osman Bandi, out of a syndicate of four, were reported to have kidnapped a forty-two-year-old man in Wapuli, a community in the Yendi District.”

It added that “They demanded a ransom of Ghc 100,000 from the victim’s family as a condition for his release.”

The statement noted that upon receipt of the information, Police dispatched a team of five officers from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (RPID) to Wapuli on a surveillance, a rescue and arrest assignment.”
On Friday, December 5, 2025, the statement said “the team successfully rescued the victim and arrested the suspects after an intensive gun-fire exchange.”
It concluded that “The suspects are currently in Police custody and will be arraigned before court. Meanwhile, the fourth suspect is believed to have sustained gun-shot wounds and Police is urging the public to assist with relevant information that would lead to his arrest.”
