The Western Central Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, 28, and Karim Yakubu, 42, for allegedly preparing to commit robbery near Asankragua in the Western Region of Ghana.
The suspects were hiding in a bush along a section of the road when spotted by a police patrol team, a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service on its official Facebook page said.
Swift Pursuit and Arrest
Upon noticing the police, the suspects attempted to flee, prompting a swift pursuit that led to an abandoned mining site, the Police Service noted.They jumped into a muddy pit to evade capture, but the police officers successfully rescued them and made the arrest.

Items Recovered
A search conducted during the arrest resulted in the retrieval of:
– One shotgun
– Three AAA cartridges
– One Nokia keypad mobile phone

Investigation Underway
The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting investigations into the alleged robbery plot. The Western Central Regional Police Command, led by DCOP Mr. Desmond Owusu Boampong and Deputy Regional Commander ACP Mr. Bismark Agyapong, is handling the case.
This recent arrest is a testament to the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the region. In a similar operation, the Ashanti Regional Police Command recently arrested five armed robbery suspects who had robbed a gold dealer at gunpoint on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
