Ghana’s main opposition political party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is holding its presidential primary today.
Today, Saturday, January 31, 2026, delegates of the NPP across Ghana will elect the party’s flagbearer for Ghana’s 2028 presidential election.
Five aspirants are contesting in today’s high-stake primary.
The five aspirants are former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Food and Agriculture Minister, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, and businessman, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
About 211,000 delegates from across the various constituencies are voting in today’s primary. The primary is taking place across over 300 polling stations nationwide.
