Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has formally presented Diplomatic Passports to five Ghanaian citizens — including renowned YouTuber, vlogger, and digital media influencer Berthold Kobby Winkler Ackon, popularly known as WodeMaya — for their distinguished contributions in promoting Ghana on the global stage.
The other recipients of the Diplomatic Passports are multiple Grammy-nominated musician Rocky Dawuni; highly respected media personality and communications entrepreneur Anita Erskine; Ghanaian entrepreneur and actress Lady Dentaa Amoateng; and the iconic Ghanaian artist Ibrahim Mahama.
Mr. Ablakwa presented the passports at the Foreign Ministry in Accra on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
“A profound honour to present Ghana’s cherished diplomatic passports to our five extraordinary patriots as promised”, the Minister said in a post on Facebook, saying
“Well-deserved congratulations to Wodemaya, Lady Dentaa Amoateng, Rocky Dawuni, Anita Erskine and Ibrahim Mahama. Ghana is exceptionally proud of you all. Keep the Black Star shining!”
It would be recalled Mr. Ablakwa announced on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, during the launch of the 2025 Diaspora Summit in Accra that the five individuals were going to be honoured with diplomatic passports.
He stated at the time: “Based on the authority conferred on the Foreign Minister of Ghana under NLCD 155, we are honoring the following outstanding Ghanaians with Diplomatic Passports:
• Wodemaya
• Lady Dentaa Amoateng
• Rocky Dawuni
• Anita Erskine
• Ibrahim Mahama (the iconic artist, not President Mahama’s brother)
Congratulations; keep bringing Ghana renown.”
Ablakwa says the award of the diplomatic Passports to the five above-mentioned individuals forms part of a new strategy to broaden Ghana’s diplomatic toolkit by empowering cultural ambassadors whose global reach and influence can strengthen trade, tourism, cultural exchange, and soft power diplomacy.

Reason for their selection
According to the Minister, the selection of these five individuals reflects a deliberate approach to leverage their diverse influence spanning digital media, music, broadcasting, contemporary art, and diaspora mobilisation.
By granting them diplomatic passports, the government hopes to empower them to more effectively project Ghana’s identity, connect with global networks, and advance people-to-people diplomacy.
Together, their combined reach is expected to amplify Ghana’s image across key markets, opening doors for trade, cultural exchange, and tourism while reinforcing the country’s position on the global stage.
