Ghana: Minister Sam George to Brief Press on DStv Pricing Dispute Today

Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel George, is scheduled to address the press today, Monday, September 29, 2025, on the ongoing standoff with MultiChoice Ghana, operators of DStv, over subscription pricing.

The briefing follows the minister’s directive to the National Communications Authority (NCA) to establish a stakeholder committee to review DStv pricing in Ghana. The committee, which began work on September 8, is expected to submit its report today.

Its mandate included evaluating DStv’s pricing model, recommending commercially viable solutions, and outlining measures to combat cross-border piracy of decoders and services from Nigeria into Ghana.

At the press conference, the minister is expected to present the committee’s findings and recommendations, which could determine whether the dispute is resolved or escalates further. The minister has repeatedly threatened sanctions, while MultiChoice Ghana has resisted calls for price cuts.
