President John Dramani Mahama has pointed out his government’s intentions to build a regional hospital as well as the Catholic Science and Technology University in Damongo, Savanah Region.
He made the disclosure when the Catholic Metropolitan Archbishop of Tamale, Most Rev. Philip Naameh, paid a courtesy call on him at the Jubilee House in Accra.
President Mahama revealed that the initial funding for the proposed university will come from the $30 million grant promised by the President of China, Xi Jinping.

The Ghanaian President indicated that the Savanah Regional Hospital will serve as a teaching center for the proposed Catholic Science and Technology University.
He says the proposed university will have a Faculty of Medical Services to train medical doctors and other allied health professionals.
During the meeting, the Tamale Archbishop pointed out a number of educational and social issues affecting the northern part of Ghana.

He made a passionate appeal to address the challenges facing Northern Ghana.
