Businessman, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has conceded defeat to former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in Ghana’s main opposition political party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary.
According to Ken Agyapong, he had prepared himself for a win or a defeat.
So far, official from the Saturday, January 31, 2026 Primary held across Ghana, show Dr. Bawumia is leading with more than 55% of the votes cast.
The remaining three candidates namely Kwabena Agyepong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, are all trailing.
Addressing journalists on Saturday evening, Ken Agyapong told his supporters that “I am a veteran politician, so I know. I have gone through several defeats, so I cushion myself and expected the worst, and the worst has happened, but the worst doesn’t mean that is the end of life.”
He says “So keep faith alive and be happy with the outcome. Who knows what will happen tomorrow…The delegates have spoken, and we have to take it. We don’t know what is in store for us tomorrow.”
