The Headmistress of the Wesley Senior High School in Konongo within the Ashanti Region of Ghana has reportedly been attacked by angry students.
The aggrieved students pelted stones at her residence and took the intervention of police to bring the situation under control.
The attack happened after
the housemistress confronted one of the candidates sitting for this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examinations for allegedly cheating during the exams.
Rev. Agnes Gaisie told journalists that after the Christian Religious Studies (CRS) paper on Friday, September 5, a male student verbally assaulted the housemistress for preventing him from cheating.
The student was invited, made to apologise, and was subsequently taken through counselling. However, on the night of Sunday, September 7, the stone-pelting incident occurred.
According to her, investigations are ongoing to identify the students involved.
The headmistress, however, assured that the situation is under control, adding that the police have intervened, and the examinations are proceeding smoothly.
