The late former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of Ghana’s ruling party, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker, was buried on Friday, August 1, 2025.
He laid to rest after a solemn funeral ceremony attended by party faithful, family members, and well-wishers.
Mr. Coker died on Saturday, May 31, 2025, following a short illness at the Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra.
Renowned for his outspoken views on national and political matters, Mr. Coker was highly respected among the NDC grassroots. He was first elected as Greater Accra Regional Chairman in 2009 and served three consecutive terms. He lost his re-election bid in 2022 to the current chairman, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore.

Beyond politics, Ade Coker also played a significant role in Ghana’s sports sector, having served as Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association.
Mr. Coker’s death marks the loss of a prominent figure in both political and football circles in Ghana.
